Youth in Action – Credit Connections (YIA-CC) is a collaboration between Ecosource and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. The program will engage Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth aged 15-30 years for a series of workshops exploring leadership, stewardship and relationship.
Participants will attend workshops and be supported to design and lead environmental projects in their communities. Each participant will work towards a minimum of 120 hours of experiential learning and skill-building. YIA-CC offers an opportunity for youth to design and lead service-oriented environmental stewardship projects, while offering an opportunity to develop leadership skills and center Indigenous history, cultural practices, and teachings. Through both workshops and service opportunities, participants will learn to foster respectful relationships with themselves, the land, each other and their communities.
The program is free and will take place virtually as well as in the Region of Peel and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation Reserve in accordance with COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Transportation to and from these locations will be provided and/or subsidized.
This program will take place until March 2023 with the majority of learning opportunities occurring from June to December 2022.
Ecosource’s Youth in Action – Credit Connections program is funded by Canada Service Corps, a national movement that empowers youth aged 15–30 to gain experience and build important skills while giving back to their community. Learn more here.

COVID-19 Considerations
The health and safety of our program participants is our top priority. This programming year, we will be offering a blend of virtual and in-person learning opportunities. Individual project planning will be informed by the latest public health advice and can include remote or virtual implementation. Health and safety training will be provided to all participants to ensure they understand how to protect themselves and others in the context of COVID-19. In-person stewardship opportunities will be offered to participants and will be implemented with COVID-19 health and safety protocols in place.
