Module 5 Presenter Bio

Kelly Obirikorang is an urban agriculture practitioner, educator, and farm manager with years of experience in community food production, youth mentorship, and land-based education. His work focuses on connecting agriculture with community and cultural food traditions while building programs that strengthen local food systems.

Kelly previously worked in the City of Toronto unit managing the Community and Allotment Gardens programs supporting urban farming, community development, and public workshops. Through these capacities, he has grown and distributed fresh produce, mentored young people in agricultural skills, and created spaces where communities have connected with food, land, and one another.

He currently serves as a Board Member and Farm Manager with the Black Youth Farming Collective, where he oversees agricultural training, crop production, nature education programming, and partnerships that expand access to food and agricultural knowledge.

In Peel Region, we live and work on the traditional territory and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We would like to acknowledge the first inhabitants of these lands and those who continue to live in these regions, including the Anishinabek, Haudenosaunee, Huron-Wendat, Ojibway/Chippewa and Métis peoples.

We occupy colonized First Nation territories and it is our responsibility to recognize our colonial histories, their present-day implications, and to work together to honour, protect and sustain Indigenous rights, and this land.
