Module 2 Presenter Bio

Jessey Njau is the founder of Zawadi Farm and Director of Zawadi Connections, a Toronto-based urban farm and community initiative championing locally grown, sustainable food. Born in Kenya and shaped by a career in technology, Jessey made a deliberate shift toward agriculture—driven by a conviction that knowing where your food comes from matters. At Zawadi Farm, Jessey grows an array of organic vegetables and herbs for the Toronto community. Under his leadership, the farm launched a CSA program now serving over 200 local families, introduced water recycling and regenerative farming practices, and built an active education program offering workshops for aspiring urban growers.
Beyond the farm, Zawadi Connections expands this mission into advocacy—building community networks, supporting local farmers, and championing the preservation of farmable land in Ontario. Jessey believes that every food choice carries political and social weight, and that access to fresh, responsibly grown produce is foundational to healthy, self-reliant communities. Through organic produce, hands-on education, and community advocacy, his work builds resilient local food networks and inspires the next generation to value the land that feeds them.
