EcoBuzz: A Superpowered Approach to Climate Action

May 1

This year’s EcoBuzz Conference is a collaboration of the Peel Environmental Youth Alliance, Ecosource and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. It offers a unique, hands-on experience for Peel students in Grades 9–12 and their teachers to dive into the environmental challenges and opportunities for action surrounding the Great Lakes.

Set along the shores of Lake Ontario in Mississauga, this full-day event invites students to take an active role in climate action, exploring how any small act can have a big impact on our climate through interactive workshops, outdoor learning, and meaningful dialogue with local champions and environmental experts.

Participants will:

  • Engage in interactive workshops led by community partners
  • Learn how they can play an active role in climate action
  • Discover how environmental issues impact local ecosystems and communities
  • Connect with professionals in the environmental sector
The conference will equip students and educators with the tools, knowledge, and inspiration to become active stewards the land—at school and beyond. From sparking school-wide eco-initiatives to taking action in your own backyard, EcoBuzz empowers the next generation of environmental leaders to protect what matters most: our water, our planet, our future.
This project has received funding support from the  Peterborough K.M. Hunter Charitable Foundation.

Workshops and Exhibits

Students will be engaged in interactive and skill-building workshops hosted by local government, conservation authorities, and an Indigenous Elder and Knowledge Keeper. Topics include invasive and native plants, traditional indigenous teas, local watersheds, plant identification, career paths in the environmental sector, and more. Detailed workshops descriptions will be shared with registrants.
